Al-Shabaab Attack Target SNA-FOB in Bulo-Burde Town

The Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab fighters early Monday 26th August 2019 attempted to stage an attack on SNA-FOB in Bulo Burde town in the vicinity of Middle Shabelle region.

SNA officials have confirmed that Al-Shabaab had attempted to breach in to their military forces base in the area but the forces repulsed them.

The attempted attack prompted heavy fighting between the Somali army and heavily armed Al-Shabaab fighters. Casualties from both sides reported.

Al-Shabaab, which is fighting in the many regions of Somalia routinely targets AU forces and SNA government bases in the country.

Bulo Burde is situated along the Shabelle River and is the second largest town in Hiran after the provincial capital Beledweyne and Al-Shabaab has interests in region due to its economic proceeds.
